Curator's Note

Created during an aerial drone flight above Chicago, Open Passage was photographed as Diane guided her camera through the narrow space between two towering structures—moving through the city with the freedom of a bird, drawn not by streets or boundaries, but by the light unfolding beyond them.

Ahead, the dense architecture opens unexpectedly to a quiet horizon, where the natural colors of sunrise soften the city in subtle layers of blue, lavender, and rose. The work captures the rare sensation of being suspended within the skyline: momentarily untethered, moving toward the light as the city begins to awaken below.
